The Four Seasons is in a League by Itself: Luxury Is in the Details, Our St. Louis Experience

When it comes to luxury travel, it’s easy to assume the best experiences are about space, views, or amenities. We tend to focus on these tangible details, but in reality, it’s the special touches that truly set the experience apart. Don’t get me wrong- the Luxury Suite at the Four Seasons St. Louis offers all of that in spades: 1,659 square feet of living space, an extra-spacious bedroom, inviting living and dining areas perfect for entertaining, and stunning, panoramic views of the Gateway Arch, the Mississippi River, and the city below. But what truly sets a Four Seasons stay apart isn’t just what’s on paper- it’s the personalization, attention to detail, and thoughtful touches that make you feel seen, cared for, and at home. This is not something that can be replaced by AI- this is the human touch that defines true luxury and sets the Four Seasons apart from nearly every other luxury hotel and resort.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed warmly. We were greeted with perfectly sized slippers, a nod to the suite’s attention to comfort, and a heartfelt “welcome back” acknowledging our previous stays with the Four Seasons. And it wasn’t just about us- Livi was delighted to find a personalized welcome gift waiting for her, a box of crayons and a coloring book filled with historical facts about St. Louis. For a family like ours who worldschools our 8-year-old, it was the perfect touch: educational, fun, and immediately engaging. She spent the afternoon coloring while learning about the city, and it was a reminder that true luxury includes thoughtful gestures for every guest, no matter their age.

Our suite itself was extraordinary. The living and dining areas feel like a private city apartment (larger than my first New York City apartment when I was anchoring at ABC News), and the gorgeous living space was perfect for unwinding or entertaining. The stunning granite dining table held a welcome gift: a chocolate Arch display with butter cake and fresh berries, mirroring the real Gateway Arch just outside- a whimsical, indulgent detail that made the suite welcome extra special.

The enormous bedroom offered space, peace, and privacy rarely found even in five-star accommodations, with every window framing views of the city skyline, the Mississippi River, and the Arch. Walking into the marble bathroom feels like stepping into a dream spa: a large walk-in rainfall shower with L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil to cleanse and moisturize, and a standalone bath complete with a loofah, specialty bath salts, and bubble bath, all positioned near a discreet window so you can unwind while taking in the view. It’s the kind of suite where you can’t wait to return at the end of the day, sink into the luxury, and relax completely.

Even in a suite this luxurious, it’s the little things that elevate the experience. Our “movie night” was more than just popcorn and our choice of movie on the “big screen” in our suite. The Four Seasons curated freshly popped popcorn with melted butter, specialty sodas for every palate, candy boxes reminiscent of a real theater, and a selection of movies ready for us to enjoy. It’s these thoughtful touches that turn simple ideas into memories that last long after checkout.

The attention to detail continued throughout our stay. Leave your smudged glasses on the nightstand? A Four Seasons-branded microfiber cloth is placed underneath. Mention to the concierge that you enjoy tea with honey and lemon, and suddenly your in-room tea setup includes every accompaniment you could want. Discuss a love for lavender baths, and you’ll find lavender bubble bath and body oil waiting for you, ready to create the perfect evening ritual.
And of course, the suite comes with world-class amenities: down duvets and pillows, silk-padded hangers, a refrigerated private bar, a flat-screen TV with in-room movies, complimentary Wi-Fi, the full marble bathroom plus an additional guest powder room with another shower, L’Occitane bath products, and the option for a butler on request. Every detail is carefully curated so that everything you need is effortless and immediate.
But the real hallmark of a Four Seasons stay is that this level of care isn’t reserved for the most luxurious suites. The same attentiveness and thoughtful touches are extended to every guest, whether they’re in a standard room or a Luxury Suite overlooking the Arch. True luxury isn’t about exclusivity- it’s about making every guest feel valued, cared for, and seen, whether they’re visiting for work, a weekend getaway, or a family adventure like ours.

For us, the Luxury Suite wasn’t just about space or views, it was about how personalized service transforms an incredible room into a truly unforgettable experience. This is what FoodFamilyTravel.com's Balanced Luxury Travel™ is all about, making room for those extraordinary moments every time you travel. From Livi’s educational welcome gift to the movie night surprises, the perfectly prepared tea, my wonderful lavender body oil, clean glasses, and the attention to every small detail, the Four Seasons St. Louis reminds travelers that luxury isn’t just a room, it’s the human touch that makes the stay memorable.
Staying in this suite is an education in the art of service: every detail is considered, every preference anticipated, and every guest treated with care. That’s the kind of luxury that makes you not just appreciate a hotel, but cherish it as part of the journey itself.
We can’t wait for the next time a concierge anywhere in the world greets us with a smile and says, “Welcome back to the Four Seasons.”
