I was just on Las Vegas Now sharing my top tips for creating the perfect staycation. If you missed it, the full segment is below!
As I mentioned on CBS, a staycation isn’t just a quick break - studies from NYU and the University of Miami show that even short, close-to-home getaways can significantly boost creativity, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being.
With that in mind, here are a few fun ways to turn your next staycation into a truly rejuvenating experience:
1. Create a “Micro-Retreat” at Home Set aside one room or corner as your personal sanctuary. Add fresh flowers, calming music, or a luxe robe to make it feel like a boutique hotel escape.
2. Book a Local Hotel for One Night A change of environment - even just a few miles away - can reset your mindset. Order room service, enjoy the pool, or explore a new neighborhood. Best part for Las Vegas locals- most of the major hotels have deals right now for a Staycation or even food and beverage discounts!
3. Plan a Themed Dinner Night Choose a destination (Italy, Japan, the Greek Islands) and build a fun evening around it. Cook a dish, play music from the region, and pair it with a great bottle of wine.
4. Try a Wellness Experience You've Never Done Think sound baths, cold plunges, float tanks, or guided meditation. New sensory experiences help signal a true break from routine.
5. Explore Your City Like a Tourist Visit a museum you haven’t seen in years, book a local tour, or try a restaurant you’ve always driven past but never gone in.
6. Build a No-Phone Morning Give yourself a few hours tech-free. Brew your favorite coffee, read, journal, or simply relax - it’s one of the quickest ways to feel refreshed.
Your next getaway doesn’t have to involve a plane ticket. With a little intention, a staycation can be just as restorative - sometimes even more.
